Granite countertops

Granite is the most common igneous rock formed deep in the earth's crust, also called depth rock.

Granite is scratch-, heat- and acid-resistant; because of its easy-care properties, worktops in Granite are still the most commonly manufactured. Granite comes in all shapes and colours and is thus used for many indoor and outdoor applications.

FIRST TREATMENT

PROTECT

Granite worktops should be protected preventively with an impregnating product. Use a product with oleophobic properties so that the stone is optimally protected against soiling, especially the penetration of oils and greases.

Suitable products are Akemi Stain Repellent Pearl Impregnator (colourless) or Akemi Colour Intensifier Transformer Max (colour intensifying).

AFTER-CARE

PROTECT 

Check with the supplier whether your top has already received an initial impregnation treatment. 

For granite, a follow-up treatment is best done once or twice a year. Here we recommend Akemi Stain Repellent Nano. 

CLEANING 

To remove grease films, maintenance layers and absorbed food residues, we recommend Akemi Natural Stone Basic Cleaner Spray. Use this powerful cleaner only if your daily maintenance cleaner is not sufficient. 

You also use this spray to thoroughly clean the worktop before an impregnation post-treatment. 

DAILY MAINTENANCE

TIPS

• Always follow the instructions on the packaging of maintenance products. 
  
  
• Lime deposits are easily removed with Akemi Sanitary Cleaner (only suitable for acid-resistant surfaces such as granite).
  
  
• Dark/black Granite gets lighter over time, this can be darkened nicely with Akemi Transformer Max.
