Terazzo countertops
How to maintain terrazzo worktops?
Terrazzo consists of marble, quartz, granite and/or other aggregates embedded in cement or clay, which are sanded and possibly polished after drying. Terrazzo, also known as granito, is mainly used for floors, kitchen countertops and monuments.
FIRST TREATMENT
Worktops in terazzo should be protected preventively with an impregnating product. Use a product with oleophobic properties so that the stone is optimally protected against soiling, especially the penetration of oils and greases.
Suitable products are Akemi Stain Repellent Pearl Impregnator (colourless) or Akemi Transformer Max (colour intensifier).
Check out our handy applicators for homogeneous application and buffing of impregnating product.
CARE
As a daily maintenance cleaner, we recommend Akemi Crystal Clean Spray. This product cleans and degreases, dries quickly and is veil-free. Safe for all materials.
Use Akemi Triple Effect once a month. This 3-in-1 product cleans, conditions and protects. It supports and supplements the effectiveness of existing impregnations.
CLEAN
To remove grease films, maintenance layers and absorbed food residues, we recommend Akemi Natural Stone Basic Cleaner Spray. Use this powerful cleaner only if your daily maintenance cleaner is not sufficient.
Also use this spray to thoroughly clean the worktop before an impregnation aftertreatment.
PROTECT
Terrazzo should be treated once or twice a year. For this, we recommend Akemi Stain Repellent Nano.
TIPS
TIPS
- Always follow the instructions on the packaging of maintenance products.
- Terrazzo is usually acid-sensitive, do not use too abrasive scouring pads as they can scratch.

- Terazzo can be acid-treated with the coating Akemi Acid Protect. Please contact us for this.
