Marble countertops
How to maintain marble and limestone worktops?
Marble is one of the best-known natural stones. This metamorphic rock was formed from limestone that was exposed to extremely high pressure and temperature variations for a very long time during the formation of our mountain ranges. Common types of marble and limestone are Fior Di Bosco, Travertine, Jura, white stone, Carrara, Calacatta, Emperador, Nero Marquina, Sahara Noir, Rosso Verona, Sinai Pearl, Muschel limestone, Forrest Green,... This material has been used for centuries to manufacture kitchen worktops, floors, skirting boards, tables and window sills. Marbles have excellent aesthetic qualities and high durability.
FIRST TREATMENT
Marble and limestone should be protected preventively with an impregnating product. Use a product with oleophobic properties so that the stone is optimally protected against soiling, including the penetration of oils and greases.
Suitable products for this purpose are Akemi Anti Stain Pearl Impregnator (colourless) or Akemi Transformer Max (colour diluting).
Check out our handy applicators for homogeneous application and polishing of impregnating product.
MAINTENANCE
As a daily maintenance cleaner, we recommend Akemi Crystal Clean Spray. This product cleans and degreases, dries quickly and is veil-free. Safe for all materials.
Additionally, use Akemi Triple Effect once a month. This 3-in-1 product cleans, conditions and protects. It supports and supplements the effectiveness of existing impregnations.
CLEAN
To remove grease films, maintenance layers and absorbed food residues, we recommend Akemi Natural Stone Basic Cleaner Spray. Use this powerful cleaner only if your daily maintenance cleaner is not sufficient.
You also use this spray to thoroughly clean the worktop before an impregnation post-treatment.
PROTECT
Marble should be treated once or twice a year. Here we recommend Akemi Anti Stain Nano.

TIPS
- Always follow the instructions on the packaging of maintenance products.
- Marble is a soft stone. Therefore, do not use scouring pads that are too abrasive as they can scratch it.
